peduli terhadap keberadaan mereka, anak dengan Autisme berupaya menyadarkan masyarakat Indonesia untuk mengenali keadaan mereka, menerima apa adanya, menghargai mereka seperti anak pada umumnya, serta memberi mereka kesempatan untuk berkembang. Nah, seruan inilah yang membuat orang-orang seperti Stanley Bratawira berpeluh ria mengkampanyekan peduli Autisme. Ia adalah seorang psikolog pengamat Autisme. Stanley yang juga memiliki seorang anak Autis, mengatakan pengenalan dan pemahaman yang tepat diharapkan bisa memperbaiki persepsi-persepsi buruk terkait Autisme dan para penyandangnya. “...serta bisa memperlakukan penyandang Autisme setara dengan individu lainnya...”, demikian ungkap pria setengah baya itu. Tak kenal maka tak sayang! Kurang lebih itu ungkapan umum yang kita kenal untuk menjembatani ketidaktahuan yang mengakibatkan salah persepsi tentang satu hal, dalam hal ini Autisme. Misalnya, masih banyak orang yang menganggap para penyandang Autisme sebagai 'orang aneh', atau makin banyak orang yang menggunakan istilah 'autis' sebagai bahan guyonan. Hal itu, menurut Stanley, sudah merupakan diskriminasi terhadap anak Autis. “...masing-masing penyandang Autis memiliki tanda (gejala) yang berbeda...misalnya dia mengepak-ngepakkan tangan, loncat-loncat, atau dia muter-muter, orang sudah bilang itu 'aneh', dan akhirnya menyuruh anaknya jangan dekat-dekat karena takut tertular... ini persepsi yang salah...”, tegas Stanley Bratawira. Persepsi salah terhadap anak Autis seperti itu juga diamini oleh Wakil Menteri Pendidikan Nasional, Faisal Djalal. Menurut Faisal, masih banyak orang tua yang tidak mengijinkan anak-anak mereka bersekolah dengan anak Autis. Ini yang menjadi hambatan pelaksanaan program pemerintah untuk fasilitasi anak-anak dengan Autisme dalam dunia pendidikan. Program itu bernama Sekolah Inklusi. Sekolah Inklusi adalah penguatan sekolah formal milik pemerintah yang sudah ada untuk dapat menjadi sekolah yang ramah buat anak Autis. Caranya, menurut Faisal, pemerintah telah memperkuat kurikulum, sarana dan prasarana, serta membekali para pengajar yang ada dengan keterampilan menangani anak-anak Autis. Hingga kini, Indonesia sudah memiliki 200 Sekolah Inklusi di seantero negeri. Faisal menargetkan hingga tahun 2014, Indonesia bakal memiliki 1000 Sekolah Inklusi yang dapat mengasah potensi-potensi unggul dari para anak Autis. Program Sekolah Inklusi ini memperkuat program pemerintah sebelumnya, yaitu pengadaan Sekolah Khusus untuk anak Autis. Namun memang hingga kini jumlah Sekolah Khusus ini masih kurang dan tetap didominasi oleh pihak swasta yang memang peduli terhadap pendidikan anak Autis. Hal ini yang juga dikeluhkan oleh sejumlah orang tua anak Autis. Salah satunya ayahanda dari Zidane, seorang anak Autis. Ia mengatakan hingga kini ia masih kesulitan dalam mencari sekolah khusus untuk anaknya tercinta. Sementara, ibunda dari Tya, anak Autis lainnya, mengeluhkan masih kurangnya perhatian pemerintah terhadap anak-anak dengan Autisme. Fakta tersebut di atas, tentunya menjadi pekerjaan rumah (PR) tersendiri buat pemerintah. Bagaimana upaya sosialisasi program-program yang baik (seperti Sekolah Inklusi dan Sekolah Khusus) dapat diserap dan dimanfaatkan seluas-luasnya oleh anak-anak Autis di seluruh Indonesia. Sementara itu, Wakil Menteri Pendidikan Nasional, Faisal Djalal, mendorong para orang tua anak Autis untuk tidak merasa malu mengakui anaknya terkena sindrom Autistik tersebut. Pasalnya, sikap tersebut bisa menghalangi kesempatan anak-anak Autis untuk bisa berkembang lebih maksimal. Karena itu, Faisal menegaskan perlunya upaya deteksi dini terhadap anak Autis yang ada di sekitar kita. Anak Autis bukan untuk dijauhi, bukan juga untuk ditertawakan, tapi anak Autis juga seperti anak-anak lainnya, punya hati, mau disayang dan menyayangi. Mereka bisa menjadi sahabat anak-anak kita, dan kita pun bisa membantu mereka dengan mengupayakan lingkungan yang kondusif buat mengejar 'ketertinggalan' mereka dengan anak-anak sebaya. Jadi, sekarang waktunya kita peduli terhadap anak-anak Autis dan Autisme itu sendiri, karena kepedulian kita adalah tanda kegemilangan bangsa Indonesia... (yan)
